8. The Nostalgia

This one is fairly obvious, as the remastered game is targeted primarily at older gamers, who have fond memories of their first playthroughs, which occurred probably over 20 years ago. For the veterans, the game is a return to a different, much simpler time. The 'nostalgia industry' is a big deal now, and everybody falls victim to it more often than they'd wish.

By playing the game, like its heroes, the veterans can travel to the past and see how far today's games have come. They are not better or worse, just different, there's no need to debate that - it all depends on one's attachments, expectations and so on.

What's cool is that the younger generation gets to see what the olders have devoted so much time to and hopefully appreciate it as well.
