Offering freebies is the vestige of the attention-seeking business model - something that Sony promptly stopped doing anywhere near as well once their sales lead was solidified.

Contrastingly, you're lucky to get something that's in 3D on PS Plus, never mind a high-quality title that represents a premium service and screams "Look how much we care about you!"
All of this sends a very clear message: Sony only made the effort to stock their monthly giveaways with eye-grabbing titles to get you through the door, but they really don't care what happens afterwards.
