And now we have one of the most common complaints about modern video game pressers - an excessive focus on glossy cinematic trailers at the expense of actual substantive gameplay.

As artful and intriguing as many of the revealed games looked, tangible gameplay footage was in frustratingly short supply, with even many games that were clearly shown in-engine deferring to cutscene footage rather than actual continuous gameplay.

That's one of several reasons why the gameplay demo for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was so satisfying: we got an extensive, continuous look at how the game plays and handles, which is ultimately going to be the best way to sell people on the PS5.
