It seems zombie infestations have become a crucial element of gaming now. Every title featuring walking corpses swirls together the same perfect blend of acceptable gore, minor scare factors, and zombies as cannon fodder for your LMG. There are a wide range of acceptable uses for zombies that have implemented themselves into many gaming studios' forays into the undead, but what about the people you're actually playing as? With all of the uses for zombies it seems there is consistently a lack of one of the most crucial aspects of a zombie infested world, survival. I love zombie games. I really do. It's always fun to blast, slash, hack, slice, shoot, and punch your way through hordes of the undead. Yet, that doesnt mean we cant become jaded on their presence. Too much of any one thing is bound to make you weary, which is why a change is desperately needed in the zombie genre of gaming. Lucky for us, it seems to be a change that is happening right now, and its looking to be a glorious revolution that focuses on the idea of survival over simply blasting your way through endless hordes. Games such as Day Z, War Z , and the upcoming projects from Undead Labs are aiming to change the way we play our zombie games. They're introducing the idea of a long term survival game, where you're no longer simply worrying about the living dead. With Day Z breaking 1,000,000 registered users for Day Z it seems that this is a change fans have been waiting for. Click "next" below to begin...
