6. A Pointless Economy With Bounties That Don't Matter

Speaking of money, Rage 2 has a world economy... kind of.

You'll first feel the periphery of its existence when arriving at a homestead. There are bounty boards where citizens have posted things like "Retrieve X item" or "Kill X number of goons", with an attached price.

"That's a neat way to stack various objectives atop one another as I go" you might think, but why are you doing any of this? Why do you need money in a wasteland?

Rage 2's financial incentives amount to percentage-based damage upgrades for your guns and throwables, but enemy health bars aren't anything intimidating or challenging in the first place. You'll die more to splash damage or being swarmed by lower-tier enemies in the corner of a level, and since there are no meaningful health upgrades, it results in a whole portion of the game you can just ignore.
