Yes, it is possible to argue that CoD does this too, but at the end of the day gameplay always devolves into one of two things: either mindlessly running around or sitting in a spot taking pot-shots at enemy players halfway across the map. The lone-wolf styled gameplay may allow players to carve out some semblance of a unique playstyle in the form of kill streaks, but in the end all these do is alter the pace of gameplay in meaningless ways. In Siege each player comprises a part of a unit, and in doing so each has their own role to fill. This means that each class has a specific function, and each team member will be needed in order to execute a flawless victory. Whether this means being a sniper providing overwatch or being a shotgun-toting pointman - each member has their own purpose in the grand scheme of things. This makes carving out your own role far more meaningful than simply customising what boosts you bring to a lobby. Indeed, weapon and equipment choice has never been this important.
