Releasing mere days after Resident Evil 2, Square Enix's RPG sequel comes a staggering 13 years after Kingdom Hearts II, and is sure to be one of the most talked about games of 2019.
There are definitely a few red flags to consider - the publisher's dubious handling of Final Fantasy XV and some mixed press previews in particular - but in terms of fan service appeal, there are few games likely to stir up more excitement.
Disney's already going to have a hell of a year with their film division, but KH3 will also serve as an expert exercise in brand awareness for the House of Mouse, while hopefully also a sumptuous RPG worthy of its predecessors.
While you'd be smart to expect some awkward elements and a few eccentric kinks - it is Square Enix, after all - if it delivers richly-realised renditions of classic Disney IP alongside sharply satisfying combat, KH3 could also be a fierce Game of the Year contender.
