100. Nidorina
Big fan of any Pokémon that can a) catch you by surprise with poison and b) balance it out with something like a fighting move. Nidorina (and it's male counterpart) represented the first Pokémon in the game where some forethought and consideration was required to use it effectively.
99. Nidorino
Obviously it would be a bit of a copout to just the same reasoning for having Nidorans ♀ and ♂ as level pegging, but Nidorino does definitely for extra points for just looking that little bit more ferocious.
98. Clefable
Clefable looks ridiculous, but packs better combined defensive stats than Golem and Rhydon. Effectively teaching you the lesson that marshmallow is stronger than rock. That's poignant if you reeeeeally think about it.
97. Psyduck
Another towering icon of the franchise.
96. Poliwhirl
Imagine being in that concept meeting. "It's a tadpole, but totally hench, and has a spinning hypnotic disc taking up 80% of its body. It will box you to death with both fists and telepathy".
