Like every other long-running sports franchise, 2K's wrestling titles have slowly become more and more 'by the numbers'. That's not to say they're inherently bad (aside from the impossible-to-master counter system), but more that you know exactly what to expect, and get it every time.

Once again the roster has been beefed up, the superstars' faces rendered in a slightly better fashion, but the same 'simulation-esque' gameplay continues to bog down the experience, as the arcadey delights of the 2000s are very much in the rearview mirror.

That said, for those who like their WWE with a dose of quasi-realism, when to feed off the crowd, ration out their finishers and keep track of merchandise sales, there's no more robust a package.
