Ranking The Best Video Games Of January 2016

Introducing a new monthly feature, where we run down the 10 most acclaimed games of each month in rank order. The rules for qualification? Simply that a game needs to have scored at least 70 on Metacritic with 10 reviews to its name. We're a little ways away from the prime rib gaming months of March and April, but January proved to be a rock solid start to the year all the same, especially if you were prepared to dig beyond AAA fare and immerse yourself in both indies and long-awaited ports to both console and PC. Things of course heat up a little in February with XCOM 2 (which is already racking up some insane reviews), the long-awaited Firewatch, Unravel, Street Fighter V, Far Cry Primal, Superhot and many, many more. Whether they'll rise to the occasion, of course, remains to be seen.
