3. A Surprisingly Effective Mature Tone
I didn't think I'd be sat here dissecting a "weighty narrative" on behalf of a Ratchet & Clank game - and that's not to say we're going anywhere near the likes of The Last of Us - but Insomniac have written a nicely mature, progressive tale that touches on personal doubt and overcoming negative headspaces.
While Rift Apart has obviously been in development for some time before 2020, such issues being explored in an all-ages title like Ratchet & Clank only has a net positive effect on all who play.
The combo Rivet with Clank provides some brilliant chemistry, the former starting out as a lone wolf-type who does truly care about others, and the latter feeling remorse for his accidental role in Dr. Nefarious' plan.
Ratchet's side of things deals with a character Insomniac haven't shown in any pre-release trailers, but they too show that often the best way to flesh out longstanding characters, is to pair them with someone else.
