Rockstar

It's rather fitting that Dutch van der Linde told John Marston that 'all he ever did was fight' in the first game, because Rockstar have a scrap on their hands to make the prequel gimmick work this time around. There's absolutely no guarantee that anything will carry weight in RDR2, and that's a real shame.

Hold on for a second, dear reader. Put that trusty Schofield revolver back in its holster and hear us out.

Think about it: Marston will be part of the gang in Red Dead 2, and we already know that he went on to raise a family and get tangled in a web of government conspiracy. Thus, we also know he ain't dying in the middle of Arthur Morgan's new story.

Morgan himself wasn't around in the first Red Dead either, so there's a high chance he snuffs it towards the end of this prequel. Hell, even calling the game Red Dead Redemption 2 hints that Rockstar are looking at the future. They're not though, and that's slightly annoying when the end of the first story hinted they would.
