Red Dead Redemption 2: The HUGE Easter Egg Everyone Has Missed

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD.

At this stage, there's no need to wax lyrical Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar's brilliant western epic is perhaps their finest effort yet, and by the time the credits begin to close after its 60-odd-hour story, there's no doubt players will have formed a connection with its cast of characters.

The principle one is, of course, Arthur Morgan, but the many souls who make up the Van der Linde are all equally important. There's John, Abigail, little Jack, and of course Dutch himself. However, it's actually the many new additions to Red Dead's cast that end up stealing the scene, and by the time you finish the story, there's one in particular whose fate you're going to want to follow up...

So, the game ends with Arthur's death, before flashing forward eight years where you're playing as John Marston trying to settle down. This eventually culminates in Marston, Sadie Adler and Charles Lee hunting down and killing Micah Bell, but once you've done that, you're going to want to pay special attention to the ending credits.

They actually end up detailing the fates of the camp members who didn't feature in the epilogue. We find out Mary Beth is a novelist of sorts, Tilly Jackson has settled down in Saint Denis, and poor old Mary is mourning Arthur's death on his hilltop grave. However, there's one other figure who makes an appearance too - Simon Pearson, the camp cook.

Pearson disappears towards the end of chapter six as morale amongst Dutch's Gang begins to plummet, and he's never seen again until those credits. He's now managing a general store, but if you pay close attention, you can see he's actually in Rhodes, admiring a photo from the gang's early days. This is where things get ridiculously cool, because if you actually head to the Rhodes general store as Marston once the credits have concluded, you can meet Pearson! You get some wonderful dialogue, and he seems to be doing well for himself too.

It would've been so easy for Rockstar to have just reset player progress to before the finale so they could continue roaming the world, but the fact they didn't - and then accounted for those revelations in the credits - is just fantastic. There's also the added bonus of Pearson actually getting a happy ending, although why he's wearing so many layers in the searing heat of the deep south is anyone's guess...
