16. Resident Evil 7 References

Early on in the game, we get a couple of bits of foreshadowing of Resident Evil 7 with some quite neat little easter eggs.

The most noticeable of these is the car that Jill uses to ram Nemesis from the top of the parking garage. This is Ethan's car that both he and Jack use during the garage boss fight in Resident Evil 7. Now, this may simply be a reuse of an existing asset to save time, but combining it with the other easter egg makes it clear that it's a reference.

In Jill's apartment at the start of the game, you can find a bookcase next to her bed. It's the same one that has her S.T.A.R.S. beret from the outfit she wore in the first game on it. Look over at the left of the bookcase and towards the bottom, you'll find a book about Louisiana, where Resident Evil 7 was set.

The book is covered in the same sort of black mold that created the enemies from much of that game. Jill, it seems, is not known for cleaning her apartment in the middle of an epidemic.
