How does a game that contains so much action manage to feel like it is dragging on for so much of its runtime? In Resident Evil 6's case it all comes down to poor pacing and, in some scenarios, an over-reliance on repetitious battles that only serve to pad out the length of the game. Chris and Piers' scenario suffers the most from this and the player will soon find themselves tiring of the monotonous gun battles and unimaginative enemies they are facing, only to have to sit through another cutscene before it starts all over again. Even the larger threats felt boring simply because all the player had to do was pump bullets into them until they died. Resident Evil 7 needs to make sure that its big battle moments feel truly momentous and that the game truly builds up to those moments. Allowing the player to soak in the atmosphere while slowly raising the tension level before forcing them onto the defensive will ensure that the highlight moments really stand out.
