Shinji Mikami is the daddy of Resident Evil, he directed every single game to bear the name up until Resident Evil 4 while he worked for Capcom. Each game was tuned to his particular vision of what a horror game should consist of and he did it so masterfully. Somehow the concept of a zombie horror was faithful to the tropes of zombie cinema but never ended up being derivative, he had the right ideas to make the best games possible and he did it with great style. Since leaving Capcom, Mikami has proved that in regards to horror games, he's still got it. Look at The Evil Within, which despite a few technical hiccups is the best RE game since RE4. It builds tension, it has a decent share of scares and it even keeps to the tradition of atrociously shonky dialogue. Even if Mikami-san doesn't come back to Capcom, at least outsource the game to his Tango Gameworks studio, it would be a guaranteed hit and would revitalise the series perfectly. Just look at the video below to see what Mikami has done with The Evil Within and imagine how could it could be placed into the Resident Evil universe
