Zombies are resilient, but they're extremely slow. Cerberus dogs are extremely fast, but they're about as durable as a paper towel. By the mid-point of RE, the feeling of safety and knowing your enemy starts to set in - you know their weaknesses and you have the tools to fend them off. Enter the Hunter. Upon returning to the mansion after a small detour to retrieve yet another key, you feel safe in the knowledge that the Spencer house has nothing new to throw at you. A short cut-scene later and you're brought face-to-face with a green, scaly-skinned, gorilla-shaped mutant of death that's both durable and fast. A large groan almost always follows their introduction, but it's one of mutual respect. It's extremely easy for a Hunter to get the best of you, although you still have more than enough weaponry to take them out. Best of all, you know there's going to be more of them scattered throughout the mansion, so now you have to tip-toe around every blind corner and anxiously go through every door like it was the first time all over again.
