Rockstar has given Max Payne 3 a tentative release date of March 2012 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, but I would not be surprised to see them move the game to May of next year because they have owned that month for the past two years (Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire). The other new announcement Rockstar had about the game is, Max Payne 3 will feature multiplayer that is described as a "compelling experience". The multiplayer will feature "traditional modes, in addition to clan support and a deep reward and leveling system". Max Payne 1 and 2 were developed by Remedy Entertainment, but Max Payne 3 is being developed by Rockstar's global development teams, here is what Sam Houser the Founder of Rockstar Games had to say about Max Payne 3:

"Max Payne 3 gave us an amazing creative opportunity to evolve one of our most iconic characters, We're excited to show fans a modern version of Max that pulls them back into his dark and twisted story."
The first two Max Payne games where some of my all time favorites, however I am a little worried about the turn Max Payne 3 is taking with the game being set in sunny Sao Paulo, Brazil and now the announcement of multiplayer to a story based game that never needed it. I could see how co-op could work with Mona Sax, but what made Max Payne great was the noir story telling method and great characterization of Max Payne. I hope Rockstar is able to maintain some of what made Max Payne great, however like I said before what I am seeing and hearing has me a little concerned. Are any of you concerned about the direction Max Payne 3 is headed?
