SimCity: 9 Reasons It's Awesome (And 1 Reason It Sucks)

1 Reason It Sucks...

1. Connectivity Issues

As has been widely documented on the web in the last 24 hours, getting to grips with SimCity has not been as easy as one would reasonably hope for, due to EA's servers constantly crashing amid the influx of demand that somehow these publishers never seem to be able to anticipate. Critics lamented that the process made their reviewing the game all the more difficult, and in effect made it harder for consumers to trust their comments, especially considering that many reviewers were allowed to play the game under controlled conditions, whereby servers ran optimally at all times, not at all reflective of the current status. Yes, it'll probably sort itself out in the next few days, but there are still the issues that this player-punishing DRM invites; connection drops do occur on occasion (just like in Diablo 3), and this can result in lost progress as well as some glitches (like duplicate items being constructed). EA and other publishers seem keen to push this anti-piracy agenda - as they have the right to do - yet don't appear to have sufficient resources to ensure its smooth deployment. Hopefully - but not probably - EA and other publishers should take heed of how much this frustrates gamers and act accordingly. Have you given SimCity a whirl yet? Let us know in the comments below.
