An incredible shooter and a must have in a set of retro titles. Axelay offered a range of perspectives from pseudo-3D thanks to the Super Nintendo Mode 7 graphics engine, and traditional top-down 2D shooting stages.

Weapon slots were customisable before missions and you could choose your preferences and loadout to ensure maximum firepower.
Of particular note was the stage beginning over a barren moon and transforming to a cityscape flyover, but equally as impressive was the final boss with a dizzying number of projectiles, appearing and disappearing and a thrilling final chase sequence where everything everywhere seems to be exploding and the screen zooms along at dizzying speeds.
SHMUPS are a must for the SNES Mini.
