Soul Calibur 6: 10 Things It Must Learn From Tekken 7

8. Don€™t Go Crazy With The Redesigns

When Yoshimitsu€™s new design was reveled for Tekken 7, fan reaction was a mix of ambivalence, disinterest, and outright dislike. While Yoshimitsu€™s always been a wacky looking character, his redesign looks like the embodiment of an Inkling€™s nightmare. Nothing about the design suggests that he has anything to do with being a ninja outside of a sword and his light-up hakama pants. Likewise, fans speculate that Gigas is actually Bryan Marduk. While there€™s no real problem with new characters, Gigas is a pretty huge redesign of generic old Marduk if that theory pans out. With that in mind, Soul Calibur 6 needs to be conservative with redesigning the returning characters. A lot of it does depend on how they deal with the time skip that occurred in SCV. Seeing as we don€™t know how they€™ll handle the next game, anything could be possible. Regardless, it would be nice to see most of the characters return in ways that aren€™t too bizarre and alien-looking.
