2. It's Too Reliant On Personality Over Plot

What does everyone love about the Guardians of the Galaxy? Their wild, over-the-top personalities, and while this game does make an admirable attempt to capture that, it also ends up using the characters as a crutch to compensate for a narrative that's aggressively unoriginal and likely to escape your brain as soon as the end credits roll.

Yes, the hunt for Thanos makes the story marginally more engaging than the breadcrumb-following non-narrative of the 2014 film (which had such a brilliant novelty appeal it just about got away with it), but the script largely feels like it's trying to coast on fans' affection for these characters rather than actually trying anything remotely ambitious.
