9. A Hint Of Joel

One thing E3's gameplay and trailer of The Last Of Us: Part 2 that let the fans down big time was a serious lack of Joel. He is no where to be seen or heard, and yet fans are dying to see the man back in action.

But we do learn one thing about Joel from E3's presentation.

Jesse, the man who approaches Ellie at the start of the trailer, mentions that Ellie's "old man" gave him a lecture about his patrols. Given that we know Ellie doesn't know who her parents are, we know he means Joel. This means that wherever they are, Joel is part of their security, if not in charge himself.

Given Ellie's apparent lack of enthusiasm to talk about Joel's involvement when Ellie goes out on patrol, it's clear that a distance has grown between the two.

Whatever situation their relationship is in now, it is evident Joel still cares for Ellie, even if the feeling isn't quite so mutual anymore.
