The Last Of Us Part II: 5 Take-Aways From Sony's E3 Conference

2. ... But Very New Enemies

The original game's human enemies were all either standard looters or military-style forces - that doesn't seem to be the case for this one.

The human enemies shown in the new game seem different, and perhaps a little more interesting in terms of motivations and characterisation. They wear robes that make them look like a cult or religious group, a fact which was suggested from a teaser trailer shown in October 2017.

This means they're going to have different motivations from enemy factions in the original - instead of trying to survive or find Ellie, they have other reasons to exist and fight. With regards to story, this makes them a lot more interesting immediately, and it is great for world-building to see an enemy that is concerned with more than just surviving.

There is no mention of clickers, or any other enemies that are a result of the post-apocalypse setting - it's unlikely they will be absent, though. Instead, we can expect them to be shown at a later date.
