The Rise Of A New Queen

The Swarm continued to evolve, but they had the desire for a Queen. They wanted be led just like the once Locust were.

Reyna would eventually fulfil this purpose as their new Queen, and in the events that followed, it became clear that she was the daughter of Myrrah. Just like the Locust had a connection to her, so did the Swarm to Reyna.

This of course means that Myrrah is Kait's grandmother, explaining why Niles was so interested in her in the Gears 5 campaign.

This all came about because the Locust horde was genetically designed to withstand generational conflict, unlike the humans and now with their new Queen, the creations of Niles stood on the brink of fulfilling his dream.

The events of Gear 5 took place over four months as the Swarm would supersede the humans as the dominant species on Sera. Even though none of this is the fault of the current generation, they were paying for the greed of generations past.

After the Battle of Old Ephyra, most of the COG cities have been attacked or destroyed, and are on the edge of extinction once more. Unlike the events of the Lambent Pandemic, this isn't a three-way fight anymore, and the COG has nowhere to turn.

Going into Gears 6 - the finale of this new "trilogy" of events, will Kait, Marcus and the rest of the COG be able to fight off yet another extinction event, or will the greed of humans finally catch up with them?

For that, we will have to wait and see.
