8 Games We Love Even Though They SUCK
8. Enter the Matrix
It's a testament to how Matrix-pilled we all were back in 2003 that Enter the Matrix was a massive commercial success despite being totally rubbish.
Blatantly rushed to market to coincide with the release of The Matrix Reloaded, this side-story to the main Matrix narrative - centered around supporting characters Niobe and Ghost - was a buggy, extremely repetitive mess that categorically failed to deliver on the promise of a Matrix video game.
But didn't we all play the absolute heck out of it back in the day anyway?
Even though the levels were laughably linear, combat was heavy on button-mashing, and you couldn't play as Neo, it was a boatload of fun dodging bullets, flipping around in the air, and deploying kung-fu moves ad nauseum.
Enter the Matrix also got a lot of grace because it ambitiously featured live-action cutscenes featuring most of the Matrix cast, which were shot specifically for the game by the Wachowskis themselves.
All in all it hasn't aged well, yet Enter the Matrix is nevertheless a charming fusion of bold cross-media storytelling and utterly pedestrian dumb-fun gameplay.
