8 Games We Love Even Though They SUCK

4. Too Human

Too Human was hyped to the heavens as the next big RPG epic from Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain developers Silicon Knights, with Microsoft fully expecting it to launch a wider franchise.

But the game's immensely troubled development dragged on close to a full decade and caused its budget to skyrocket to $80 million, only for most to slam it as an utterly mediocre RPG hobbled by muddled storytelling and janky combat.

And that's absolutely right - Too Human is far from the polished game you'd expect with all the time, money, and talent thrown at it, but like so many messy, rough-edged games, it has a whole lot more personality than your average competent 7/10 sci-fi RPG.

The overarching lore, fusing science fiction with Norse mythology, felt like nothing else video games were doing at the time, aided by some of the more unique art direction of the PS360 era.

Too Human is exactly the sort of sloppy failure you get when ambition is allowed to run amok without sufficient guardrails or expertise. It doesn't really work, but it's a big, hard swing of a game with an allure that's tough to entirely resist.
