TYOA: 8 Great Video Games RUINED By Their Final Level

3. Black & White - Yakuza Zero

Yakuza Zero was the game that saw the franchise finally breakthrough into the gaming mainstream, and as ludicrously entertaining as it mostly is, that success is absolutely in spite of its infuriating patience-tester of a final chapter.

"Finale: Black and White" is a prototypical final gaming mission that grotesquely outstays its welcome and just doesn't know when to end.

Black and White can easily take you a few hours to get through, as after beating down Kuze (again) you'll need to fight your way through seemingly never-ending waves of Shibusawa's goons, and then battle three tough bosses in succession - Awano, Lao Gui, and Shibusawa.

To make matters worse, there's no checkpointing or saving of any kind here, so if you fall to any of the three bosses, you need to run the gauntlet all over again.

And so for as much as Yakuza Zero helped the series soar to unrepresented heights, its closing stretch also depicted the franchise at its most recklessly, tiresomely self-indulgent.
