Warhammer 40K: Which Chaos Faction Should You Pick?
9. Emperor's Children III Legion
The Emperor’s Children were the first Space Marines to be given the honour of wearing the Imperial Aquila upon their armour. In striking purple and gold, their elegance was only surpassed by their philosophical debates in the amphitheatres of their flagship, “Pride of the Emperor”.
As a legion their obsession with perfection in all things allowed them to be easily lured to the embrace of, She Who Thirsts, Slaanesh.
They quickly became enraptured in sensation and all vestiges of their nobility was replaced with obscene decadence. Now slaves to sensation, the Emperor’s Children are a vicious Warband lost to the pursuit of “perfection”.
Positives of playstyle
Their playstyle is to race up the board into combat. This is due to their special trait “Flawless Perfection” which allows them to always fight first in close combat, even if they have been charged! Since the release of the book “Faith and Fury” the Emperor’s children have been given superb tools for getting into combat.
To compliment this, as they are devotees to Slaanesh, they will have access to the stratagem “Endless Cacophony” which will let their ranged units fire twice. This will help the combat units get to the juicer targets behind the opponents weaker screening units.
Negatives of playstyle
The Emperor’s children do not have their own Codex with fully fleshed out special rules, so they can feel a similar to some of their more generic cousin legions.
Their special unit “Noise Marines” while being good at destroying other units they can be wiped out by a stiff breeze.
All of their special units, barring the new Fabius Bile model, are either finecast resin of metal models and are in desperate need of a redesign.
