Warner Bros. Fighting Game Leak: 10 Characters We Need To See
Batman and Gandalf are confirmed - who else??
In case you're not in the know, a rather curious leak has been trending online concerning a "Warner Bros Universe" fighting game, possibly in the vein of Super Smash Bros, that has some rather crazy choices for its roster.
The rumour mill is in full swing at the moment, so it's difficult to discern fact from fiction, but if the leaks are to be believed the game will feature characters like Tom and Jerry, Steven Universe, Superman, Shaggy, and even Finn and Jake from Adventure Time.
There's even talk of LeBron James being added to the game as its first DLC character, and weirder still some sites are reporting on the possibility of Netherealm - creators of the Mortal Kombat franchise - being the ones to develop the game.
Now it's important to note that nothing has been officially confirmed yet. Whilst a few sites have reported on it, like Gamesradar and Kotaku, the only confirmation we have that the leak may be real is a copyright takedown request from WB, launched against the initial leaker, Hungrybox.
Still, it's always fun to theorise. So, outside of the leaks we already have, what characters could Warner Bros Entertainment feasibly include in the game?
Warner Bros aren't quite Disney-level insane when it comes to IPs, but they're a very strong contender for second place. The sheer breadth and popularity of their media franchise library could potentially make the roster for the game absolutely bananas, so there's no need to hold back on this one.
Let's get weird.
10. Harry Potter
Now, if Warner Bros are really as committed to exploiting their most popular franchises as it would appear they are, there really isn't a better choice than Harry Potter.
Of all the characters on this list, Harry Potter is the one that really needs no introduction. Over 500 million books sold, over 8 billion dollars grossed in worldwide box office sales, and an estimated franchise value of 25 billion dollars. It's fair to say the bespectacled wizard has made a pretty good name for himself.
The franchise has shown no signs of slowing down either, with a third entry in the Fantastic Beasts series set to hit cinemas in April next year alongside a new game entitled Hogwarts Legacy that's launching on all platforms. What better way to promote all of that than throwing the main character into a fighting game?
Merely having Harry Potter in the game would sell an incredible amount of DLC, so why not go the extra mile and throw in a couple of other fan favourites like Hermione and Dumbledore too?
Hell, get Hagrid in there while you're at it. This franchise literally prints money. Warner Bros would be silly to miss out on this opportunity.
