For the anime fans out there, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem is going to be your catnip. Combining the RPG elements of the former and the tactical, often turn-based nature of the latter, the crossover Wii U title is taking the best of both worlds and smashing them together to form a modern JRPG with a nonsensical story, large amounts of colour and an open world. Most will be familiar with the Fire Emblem series to a far greater degree than Megami Tensei; a multi-faceted franchise who's most well-known and popular product is the Persona series of video games. The main hook of this particular crossover centres on a group of mostly ordinary people who can merge with mirages and in-turn become them for various combat abilities. Here's the cool twist though. The characters you merge with are none other than the star cast of Fire Emblem. It might struggle to capture audience attention outside of Japan due to its relative obscurity, but there's nothing else like it currently slated for the Wii U. If you're a fan of the weird, wonderful and barmy side of Japanese pop culture, then this is your best option to experience it on a Nintendo platform.
