WWE 13 Preview: 6 Reasons Why It Is Most Exciting Wrestling Game in Years

3. Gameplay

WWE 12 made vast changes to gameplay so it€™s not particularly surprising that THQ haven€™t made too many alterations. The match experience is largely the same as the previous game, apart from one major improvement, which in my opinion is the most important and critical development. Last year you could create a wonderful feud between Stone Cold and The Rock, leading up to a confrontation at WrestleMania, only for the match to end in a matter of minutes by a Suplex. Suddenly all the realism and build-up evaporates. For WWE 13, THQ have introduced a Match Experience option, which gives you the option between €˜short€™, €˜medium€™ and €˜epic€™. €˜Short€™ lasts several minutes, like a match from Raw, €˜medium€™ is an average PPV opener and €˜epic€™ could take ages. It€™s something that, personally, I€™ve been waiting years for. WWE history is littered with moments that have left the audience in awe. OMG moments have been introduced for players to recreate some of those iconic moments, such as Mankind being thrown off the cell by Undertaker or Brock Lesnar and Big Show making the ring collapse. Some can be done multiple times, while the ring collapse will end the match by KO. The only other major addition to the gameplay is the ability to perform catching finishers. There are only eight catching finishers, which include the GTS, AA, Chokeslam, Tombstone, RKO, Superkick, World€™s Strongest Slam and the Codebreaker.
