WWE 2K Battlegrounds Release Date Confirmed

2K has today confirmed the release date for WWE 2K Battlegrounds, the arcadey, brawler-style videogame that made waves for its wild announcement trailer back in April.
Per 2K's official press release, WWE 2K Battlegrounds comes out on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, and Stadio globally on 18 September 2020. Developers Saber Interactive promise "explosive excitement in an approachable experience for everyone from passionate WWE fans to casual players."
The game is being advertised as a fun, accessible alternative to recent WWE releases, and features multiple game modes. Exhibition is as advertised, Campaign will feature multiple locations and personalities as it follows seven "WWE hopefuls" competing to earn a contract, while King of the Battleground is an online eight-person gauntlet mode. Further online tournaments and exhibitions are also available.
2K Battlegrounds features eight unique environments that will "play a major role in the action," featuring "interactive elements adding to the mayhem alongside a variety of outrageous melee weapons." Helicopters, cars, and hungry alligators (!) will feature, with Jerry Lawler and Mauro Ranallo calling the action.
Players also have the ability to customise the game's arenas and use the Superstar Creator to make their own wrestlers.
Chris Snyder, 2K's Vice President of Marketing, said the following:-
“We know WWE fans and gamers enjoy a wide variety of experiences, and with WWE 2K Battlegrounds, we’re present ing a whole new dimension through arcade - style gameplay that’s completely different than our WWE 2K simulation franchise. We look forward to seeing everyone tear it up with friends and family in the Battlegrounds."
