Despite previous rumblings that WWE could look to strike up a deal with EA Sports for future video game releases, it's now been announced that WWE and 2K Games have struck an agreement to continue working together for the foreseeable future.

This news was made public via the WWE Games Twitter account.

It's not known exactly how long this latest deal between the parties is for, but the last arrangement between WWE and 2K was signed in 2016 for a six-year renewal. If this latest agreement is a similar length, that would suggest the two organisations will be working together through until at least 2028.

How serious the talks were between WWE and EA Sports, we'll never know. Considering the hugely positive response to WWE 2K22 - which was released just two weeks ago - one has to imagine that played a significant part in WWE being keen to continue working with 2K Games.

Following the dumpster fire that was WWE 2K20, this latest WWE video game is already up over 200% in sales when compared to its predecessor. Not just that, but critics and fans alike have been full of plentiful praise for WWE 2K22.
