WWE 2K16 Review: 5 Ups And 5 Downs You Need To Know About

A huge leap forward, but just not far enough...

By Ross Tweddell /

WWE 2K16 is as close to a perfect fusion of performance and showmanship that has ever been seen from a wrestling game. 2K made a conscious decision to move away from 'arcade' gameplay into more simulation based content with WWE 2K15 and have pushed this on even further with 2K16. This has resulted in the new title being the most realistic WWE game of all time with many facets that make up a real life match - such as working holds where our beloved Superstars rest in the middle of a bout - making their way into the virtual version of a WWE ring. This new found level of realism has been complimented by a more strategic outlook which means that for the first time ever, a wrestling game is a thinking gamer's game. Gone are the days of endless reversals and relentless action that made it look like our favourite Superstars were powered by Duracell batteries, and in are rationed counters, rewards for kickouts and other measures that make you plan ahead while you're in the ring. 2K16 even saw the return of a number of key components that didn't make the cut last year, while the bumper roster is quite simply insane. That being said, the new game isn't perfect - not saying that WWE and 2K won't get there one day - so here's five ups and five downs that you need to know about.
