After the dumpster fire that was WWE 2K20, there was a sense of trepidation mixed with mild excitement when the release of 2K22 edged closer. Would the decision from 2K Games to take an extra year to work on this release do wonders, or would players be left with another disappointing game full of glitches? From those who've played WWE 2K22 already, it's very much a case of so far, so good.

The action here is meatier, more arcade-y, the moves are more fluid, and the visuals and sound on display are nothing short of jaw-dropping. Still, as is the case with many a wrestling game, there are certain superstars who are out of reach when you first boot up WWE 2K22.

Even if you've bought a version of the game that unlocks all purchasable content, there are still some names that need unlocking via other means. And on that front, we've got you covered, as here's a breakdown of how to unlock every playable character on WWE 2K22.

For those wondering, no, Dominik Dijakovic, King Corbin and 'Goddess' Alexa Bliss are not playable in the main game, and yes, there are a lot of Rey Mysterios to unlock along your journey.

34. The NWO

While four members of WCW's infamous New World Order have other playable versions of themselves on WWE 2K22, certain gamers will have access to exclusive nWo iterations of Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Sean Waltman.

Decked out in the black and white, coming to the ring to their iconic entrance team, the nWo versions of 'Hollywood' Hogan, Nash, Hall and Syxx are all brilliant fun to play as. Additionally, there's a playable nWo version of Eric Bischoff as part of WWE 2K22, too.

So, how do you unlock these characters? Unfortunately, there is only one way to do that right now - and that's by buying the nWo 4-Life Edition of WWE 2K22.

For those who didn't splash the cash on that $100+ edition of WWE 2K22, it seems inevitable that the nWo will be released as purchasable content at some point in the future. It's just a matter of when that happens, though.
