Divisive? Possibly. Intriguing? Absolutely.

Described as being "an interactive world made up of a series of areas built around different WWE themes", The Island is WWE 2K25's biggest selling point, and, when being teased, was perceived as being WWE's first attempt at an open world title. That, obviously, won't be the case - at least, not entirely: Grand Theft Auto VI was confirmed to have entered development in 2014 and still hasn't hit consoles over a decade on, so 2K and developers Visual Concepts physically wouldn't have been able to do an open world system justice.

What the mode will offer, though, is quests, challenges, live events, and unlockables, with the aim being to upgrade your MySUPERSTAR throughout your journey to join Roman Reigns at the head of the table. Given the in-depth nature of the mode, it is only available to those playing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, leaving PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and, bizarrely, PC players a mode short.

The Island will also operate heavily on cosmetics, with the Deadman and Bloodline Editions both revealing a smattering of pre-order exclusive items, including The Undertaker's protective mask from 1995, a Bloodline 'Family Above All' hoodie, a Roman Reigns 'OTC' t-shirt, and Jey Uso 'YEET' sunglasses and tank top.
