Confirmed through Phil Spencer talking to Gamespot about the new Hellblade 2 demo rendering in-engine, clearly Microsoft are leading with one of their biggest acquisitions of the last few years, and letting Ninja Theory do the talking.

Besides being a long-awaited sequel to a phenomenal game, the above footage is indicative of what the Series X can do.

Obviously the major takeaway is facial animation, with Senua herself once again modelled on actress Melina Juergens, firing through a series of facial contortions and aggressive moods to bring the performance to life.

Add to that some brilliant water effects, billowing ship sales twisting in the wind and some incredible lighting putting the focus on torchlights and bonfires. They're all things that elevate a game's production value, and hint at what's to come across the board.

Honestly, it's a great way to showcase the new technology as Hellblade was made with cutting-edge motion capture software. Upping the rendering capabilities on the digital side has resulted in genuinely lifelike animations, and a year out from release, it's a confident showing for the first Xbox SX exclusive.
