10 Horror Movie Characters Who Deserve Their Own Spin-Off
2. Dr. Kelson - 28 Years Later
After appearing rather briefly in 28 Years Later, Ralph Fiennes absolutely stole the show as Dr. Ian Kelson in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, which is saying a great deal considering the time he spent on screen with Jack O'Connell's Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal.
The highlight, of course, was the demonic ritual performed to Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast, but even outside of this, Fiennes' performance was exceptional. He was kind and eloquent, with a real air of wisdom and a wonderful relationship with Samson (Chi Lewis-Parry), which no one could have really expected.
Of course, with the tease at the end of The Bone Temple, and the fact that Kelson was killed by Jimmy, the story will move back to Cillian Murphy's Jim should the third in the trilogy ultimately be released, but there is so much more story to tell surrounding the Doctor. 28 years more, to be precise.
Kelson has been living in the wild since the Rage Virus first hit, and will have come across countless different people, both infected and not. And his Memento Mori didn't build itself overnight, there could be so many rewarding stories to come out of following Kelson, and if any are even half so touching as that of Spike and Isla (Alfie Williams and Jodie Comer), they would be more than worth watching.
