10 Horror Movie Monsters Who Encountered Something Way Worse

2. The Infected - 28 Years Later (2025)

Years after the franchise was presumed dead, Danny Boyle and Alex Garland brought the 28 films back in a blaze of glory, with 28 Years Later. Set 28 years on from the first movie, we are introduced to an isolated and changed Britain, cut off from Europe and struggling to thrive, as the folk who have retained their humanity do their best to contend with hordes of feral, screaming, rage-induced monsters. So nothing at all familiar, then.

The story centres on Spike (Alfie Williams), a young lad from Lindisfarne, coming of age and travelling to the mainland to bag himself a few kills. This film introduces us to several different strands of the Rage Virus-infected zombie-people, with Spike facing original infected, slow lows, and alphas. And while, for the bulk of the picture, these are the only real threat out there, the final moments bring out something much, much worse.

As Spike goes it alone on the mainland, the infected chasing him suddenly find the tables turned. A squad of Jimmy Savile Teletubby Power Rangers from hell drop in and lay waste to the infected in gory and brutal fashion, showing no mercy. These are, of course, the sinister and organised Sir Jimmy Crystal (Jack O'Connell) and his gang of Fingers – and this even isn’t half of how violent and sadistic they can be.
