10 Worst Horror Movies Of 2026 (So Far)

2. The Strangers: Chapter 3

There are some movies' inclusions on this list that won't have exactly come as a shock to anybody reading, but you could argue that The Strangers: Chapter 3 is the least surprising of all. Given that Chapters 1 and 2 were up there with the worst of 2024 and 2025, respectively, this was all but a foregone conclusion.

And why? The entire trilogy is an underwhelming mess, with barely an ounce of tension, terror, or basically anything that an audience would look for in a good horror flick. It missed the mark from the very start.

Even taking into account the poor beginning and middle of this three-movie story, this was the chance to at least end on a high, but alas, no. The fact that all three chapters were filmed back-to-back-to-back would indicate little change in the quality across the board, a theory that unfortunately proved true.

Yet another lesson here for the movie industry to just leave something good alone. Bryan Bertino's original Strangers film in 2008 was fantastic, dripping with intensity and intrigue, before having it all stripped away almost two decades later into three lifeless husks seemingly released simply for the sake of it.
