10 Worst Horror Movies Of 2026 (So Far)

6. Scary Movie

Unfortunately, 2026 hasn't been a good year for long-running horror franchises so far. Scream 7 missed the mark by a wide margin, and arguably Scary Movie was even worse, as it returned after a 13-year hiatus to whimpers and groans rather than fanfare and celebration.

Spoof movies haven't got a great track record at the best of times, and the Scary Movie series, in particular, has been hit and miss since 2000, with more misses than hits. In all honesty, there likely weren't many people clamouring for the franchise to return, and it's a headscratcher as to why this was even attempted.

Yes, you could argue that there were plenty of new properties to take shots at since 2013 - the likes of Weapons, The Substance, and Longlegs featuring heavily - and while there was a touch of nostalgia, it was minimal at best. 

Outside of different films being parodied, there was nothing new in the way the 2026 Scary Movie was done; there was nothing special to separate the sixth entry in the franchise from the first five, most of which were received incredibly badly anyway, and the truth is that the schtick just isn't funny anymore. It barely was 26 years ago.
