4. Brightburn - Brandon On The Loose

Brightburn, a superhero-themed horror, asks the question: What if Superman was evil? If he was, it would be a devastating turn of events, for such a powerful being could decimate the world. 

That's exactly what happens here, as Brandon / Brightburn (Jackson A. Dunn) succumbs to his evil urges and goes on the rampage by the end. He kills both of his adoptive parents, he destroys a passenger plane and based on the news reports seen just before the credits, Brandon has begun to cause many other disasters around the world. 

How would Brandon ever be stopped? Is there even a weapon on earth that could destroy him? This psychotic super-kid being on the loose is a chilling prospect indeed. 

Partly because it didn't do that great at the box office and partly because it just wasn't very good in general, none of the initially-planned sequels ever materialized, so these questions have never been answered. As such, Brightburn's conclusion remains an anxious cliff-hanger without a conclusion, one that hints some really bad times are ahead for Earth's inhabitants. Honestly, the lack of a sequel has made the movie more powerful than it otherwise would've been.
