Better Watch Out revolves around Ashley (Olivia DeJonge), a babysitter who must protect Luke (Levi Miller), the 12-year-old she's sitting for, from home intruders around Christmas.

Talk about a film that just sneaks up on you. Though you might think you know where this one is going from the jump, it's got some devilishly fun surprises in store as a seasonal riff on the typical home invasion horror-thriller.

Olivia DeJonge and Levi Miller are terrific as the embattled youngsters, and writer-director Chris Peckover clearly has a ton of fun making brutal nods to classic Christmas films like Home Alone.

Though Better Watch Out didn't make much of a dent upon original release in 2016, it's grown a cult fandom over the years for good reason. It's an expectation-defying, expertly crafted, and brilliantly acted riff on an incredibly familiar idea.
