20 Horror Movie Endings Way Worse Than You Think

Zach Cregger's superb Weapons climaxes with the witchy villain Aunt Gladys (an Oscar-winning Amy Madigan) getting gleefully torn apart by the very children whose vitality she sought to feed off.

Yet when the end credits roll there's still so much left up in the air, for though Gladys' spell has effectively been broken, that doesn't mean all the suffering she wrought upon the seventeen children she enchanted is just instantly undone.

The rather ambiguous final narration reveals that some of the children eventually started speaking again, though reading between the lines, it seems clear that some of them probably didn't.

After all, we know that Alex's (Cary Christopher) parents are "still being fed soup somewhere," implying that they may never recover, so it's clear that Gladys' spell affects people very differently, possibly depending on how long they've been enchanted.

Though the witch was defeated, life likely didn't return to anything close to normal for anyone affected by her, and even those children who did start talking again are surely permanently changed by what they've experienced.
