20. 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

28 Years Later was nothing if not a bold third entry into the post-apocalyptic horror franchise, and though not everyone vibed with its utterly bonkers ending, it certainly left plenty up in the air to be explored in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.

Danny Boyle isn't directing this time, with the talented Nia DaCosta (Candyman) instead subbing in, though Alex Garland wrote the script, and from what the marketing has shown off so far, it sure looks like a barmy continuation from everything introduced in the previous film. And of course, there's enormous curiosity about Cillian Murphy finally returning to reprise his role of original survivor Jim, even if apparently only in cameo form ahead of a larger role in 28 Years Later Part III.

The response from early screenings has evidently left Sony confident enough that they recently greenlit Part III, confirming that it will imminently begin production regardless of how The Bone Temple performs at the box office.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple releases on January 14.
