2. Happy Death Day to Us

Horror-comedy Happy Death Day was a massive surprise hit in 2017, enough that sequel Happy Death Day 2U was quickly released just two years later. However, between its more genre-bending ambitions, terrible release date, and so-so marketing, the follow-up massively underperformed commercially, grossing barely half of what its predecessor did.

Though the second film absolutely left the door open for a threequel, its box office disappointment led producer Jason Blum to call a sequel "not very likely," all while filmmaker Christopher Landon continued to bang the drum for a third picture he dubbed Happy Death Day to Us.

To many, though, it seemed like the time for another sequel to happen had passed, but in April 2025, Landon and star Jessica Rothe finally confirmed that Happy Death Day to Us had been given the official go-ahead.

While we haven't had any substantial updates on the project since, hopefully it simply means that Landon is knuckling down on the script and it'll be ready to shoot in the very near future.
