20 Horror Movies That Were JUST Announced

10. Sharknado Origins

Even the most ardent apologist for Sharknado will surely agree that the campy, so-bad-it's-bad franchise well and truly ran out of juice by the time its sixth entry, the hilariously titled The Last Sharknado: It's About Time, came out in 2018.

Sharknado's time in the viral spotlight had passed, then, but it was recently announced that a prequel film, Sharknado Origins, is now in development.

The story will reportedly focus on franchise protagonists Fin and April encountering a Sharknado as teenagers, as you do.

So it's safe to say that fans shouldn't expect to see either Ian Ziering or Tara Reid back in their roles - save perhaps for a wink-wink, present day cameo at the end.

Sharknado Origins will be directed by Anthony C. Ferrante, who helmed all six prior films, so in the very least it's likely to be consistent with the style and tone of the previous films, for better or worse.
