20 Horror Movies That Were JUST Announced

20. Paranormal Activity 8

The Paranormal Activity franchise wrapped up its original run with 2015's Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, after which a standalone seventh entry, Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, was dumped on Paramount+ to negative reviews in 2021.

Next of Kin was so poorly received that even franchise producer Jason Blum called it "terrible," before confirming that the series had been put on ice until a filmmaker comes along with a compelling reason for it to be revived.

And that time has apparently come, as genre master James Wan (Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring) is now set to co-produce an eighth installment in the franchise, citing his keenness to "[expand] on its legacy and [help] shape the next evolution" of the series.

Wan will produce alongside Blum and franchise creator Oren Peli, with an intent to make the new film for the theatrical market rather than streaming.

Meanwhile rising indie horror filmmaker Ian Tuason - who recent feature debut Undertone earned rave reviews on the festival circuit before being acquired by A24 - is confirmed to direct.
