4. AI Slop Coyotes - Coyotes

Coyotes was a pretty fun little horror flick for the most part, centered around a couple (Justin Long and Kate Bosworth) who find themselves trapped in their Hollywood Hills home while being targeted by a pack of coyotes.

It goes without saying that such a concept would need some solid VFX work considering the impracticality of using actual coyotes, yet the film was widely - and rightly - criticised upon release for its apparent use of generative AI to produce the digital coyotes.

Frustratingly, most shots of the coyotes have that very obviously softened, not-quite-convincing AI look to them - a fact called out by many critics - and given gen AI's limitations, it means that the coyotes don't look or act consistently from shot to shot.

While low-budget genre fare such as this can't necessarily afford cutting-edge VFX, it's a bad look to adopt gen AI tech that has most likely built these coyotes by scraping data from the Internet without the original artist's permission.
